A peculiar feature of the Fw 190 was the very thick base of the fin.

The small antenna mast on top of the fin first appeared with the Fw 190 A-4, when the radio was upgraded from the initial FuG VII to the improved FuG 16 type.

A curiosity for modellers: note the "raised" panel line across the top of the fin.
